The Social Audit Team in Mamusha Comes with Recommendations for the Project Funded by the Municipal Performance Grant
During September and October, the Social Audit Team in the Municipality of Mamusha monitored the implementation of the project for supplying public institutions with generators and cleaning equipment, financed through the Municipal Performance Grant.
The team continuously emphasized the importance of the community and relevant institutions addressing the needs of schools, the Main Family Medicine Center, and municipal offices, so that these institutions can continue their work without interruptions even during power outages.
Composed of actively engaged citizens, the Social Audit Team conducted field visits and meetings with contract managers to discuss project progress, technical challenges, and the fair distribution of equipment. During these discussions, citizens highlighted the need to use generators for critical equipment such as medical refrigerators, IT servers, and laboratories, as well as electrical cleaning devices to improve hygiene and maintenance in public facilities.
Following the analysis of findings and discussions, the team prepared a set of recommendations for the municipality, including: ensuring fair distribution of equipment, regular maintenance of generators and cleaning devices, involving citizens in monitoring their functionality, and maintaining flexibility in technical specifications to prevent possible tender cancellations. The team also underlined the importance of participatory budgeting as a tool to strengthen civic engagement and promote women’s involvement in decision-making.
In 2025, BIRN Kosovo and Democracy Plus (D+) were engaged by the Decentralization and Municipal Support Project (DEMOS) to facilitate the Social Audit process in selected projects across several municipalities, including Mamusha.
The 2025 Social Audit cycle began in August and will conclude in December 2025.
