Title: Increasing transparency in the management of public finances through civic activism

Implementation period: June – December 2021

Project’s goal: Increasing the transparency of local institutions in spending and reporting public finances and informing citizens about the importance of participating in decision-making processes.

Brief description: Through this project, IQS aims to increase the transparency of the municipal government of Skenderaj, through civic involvement in decision-making processes and monitoring budget implementation and policy making. In this context, IQS aims to influence the increase of the level of access to information of citizens regarding the importance of involvement in decision-making, and the forms that they can use to become active participants in local policy making.

Reconciliation Empowering Communities

Project location: Municipalities of North and South Mitrovica, Leposaviq and Skenderaj

Title: Women and youth involvement from rural and urban areas in four municipalities of northern Kosovo in actively participating in dialogue and policy making with municipalities and women MPs 

Implementation period: June 2021 – January 2022

Project’s goal: Enhancing constructive and substantive youth and women’s involvement from rural areas in four municipalities of northern region in actively participating in dialogue and policy making with municipalities by joint activities of Kosovo Albanian, Kosovo Serb, RAE (Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian) and Bosnian communities.

Brief project description: The projects foresees to tackle the problem of public participation of women and youth into decision making processes, by engaging rural women and youth communities in actively participating in dialogue meetings and consultations with local servants in northern Kosovo Municipalities, with the focus on women and Young local assembly members with women and youth communities from rural areas, in order to map the needs and strategies of affecting local policies in support of civic participation and empowerment.

Avoko Dragash

Project location: Municipality of Dragash

Title: Involvement of youth of the municipality of Dragash in local decision-making

Implementation period: June – December 2021

Project’s goal: The purpose of this project is to engage young people from all communities living in Dragash Municipality (Albanians, Gorani and Bosniaks) in decision-making processes through capacity building and awareness campaigns on the importance of civic activism.

Brief project description: The project aims to promote civic activism through the involvement of young people in decision-making processes at the local level in the municipality of Dragash. This project aims to train active young people in the municipality of Dragash to increase their capacity to participate in decision-making processes, identify common problems of the community where they live and raise the identified issues in the form of concrete requests-projects to the municipality and advocate for their implementation.

Handikos Ferizaj

Project location: Municipality of Ferizaj

Title: Responsible governance in relation to the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)

Implementation period: June – December 2021

Project’s goal: An inclusive society where the community rights of persons with disabilities are respected and applied as a fundamental human right.

Brief project description: The project aims to engage the organization, staff, people with disabilities and their families as well as various stakeholders, in increasing the accountability of local government in relation to the rights of people with disabilities. Handikos Ferizaj through this project will monitor and advocate for the implementation of laws and municipal strategy for people with disabilities, increasing their participation as important actors of change and to act and contribute to key social developments.

Shoqata e Gruas Zana

Project location: Municipality of Klina

Title: Empowering local CSOs and citizens in active citizenship

Implementation period: June – December 2021

Project’s goal: to increase the participation of citizens of the municipality of Klina in decision-making, transparency and accountability, by building the capacity of local councils on monitoring capital investments and their role in the community and raising public awareness to demand accountability.

Brief project description: This project aims to activate local councils and strengthen them in order to increase the transparency and accountability of the municipality, with a focus on capital investment projects. This goal will be achieved by building the capacity of local councils through the provision of advocacy and lobbying training; monitoring and oversight of municipal capital investments as well as campaigns to promote citizen participation in decision-making.

Partners Kosova Center for Conflict Management

Project location: Municipalities of Hani i Elezit and Fushë Kosova

Title: Empowering Youth in Active Citizenship

Implementation period: June – November 2021

Project’s goal: The aim of the project is to identify the main needs of youth networks in the municipalities of Fushë Kosovë and Hani i Elezit and strengthening the cooperation of Local Youth Action Councils with the respective municipalities.

Brief project description: Through this project, Partners Kosova aims to increase the capacity of LYACs, as basic youth structures guaranteed by the law in Kosovo. This project will facilitate the participation of young people in decision-making processes by providing them with the opportunity to raise their voice, communicate with policy makers and develop intervention strategies in their municipalities.

Project location: Municipalities of Prizren, Suhareka and Dragash.

Title: Satisfaction of minorities with anti – covid health services

Implementation period: June – November 2021

Project location: Municipalities of Prizren, Suhareka and Dragash.

Project’s goal: This project aims to improve access of vulnerable groups to health services for protection against COVID 19 and increase their satisfaction with these services.

Brief project description: This project will measure the experiences of Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian, Turkish and Bosniak communities in the Prizren region, who have been suspected or affected by Covid 19, with the health services they have received and their satisfaction with the quality of those services. The project will obtain the perspective of health practitioners on access of vulnerable patients to the health services during the pandemic. This assessment will provide answers to the problems that these groups may face in accessing health services, the quality of services received, their satisfaction with them and will enable them to their voice their concerns as vulnerable group to the respective municipalities.

Omladinski Savet Gračanica

Project location: Municipality of Gracanica

Title: Eco Patrol

Implementation period: June – November 2021

Project’s goal: Through this project, OSG aims to educate the public and raise environmental awareness, unite the residents of the municipality of Gracanica and the representatives of the local self-government with the goal of solving problems that are equally important for all of us, through the promotion of active participation, especially of young men and women. The goal of the “Eco Patrol” is to gather young environmental enthusiasts to act in a timely and efficient manner for the protection of the environment.

Brief project description: The project envisages to increase cooperation between citizens and the municipality, by informing citizens about the use of existing applications for environmental protection to report and solve potential problems with the environment such as removal of light waste, cleaning the river bank, landfill and other potential environmental problems. In addition to the reaction of institutions and civil society, the project also plans to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment through workshops, direct meetings, debates and round tables.

Network of Peace Movement

Project location: Municipality of Kamenica

Title: Identifying and solving challenges of the local community through cooperation between citizens and municipal government

Implementation period: June – December 2021

Project’s goal: The aim of the project is greater civic involvement in identifying and addressing local community challenges (with a particular focus on women, youth and other underrepresented citizens)

Brief project description: The project aims to increase citizen involvement in identifying and solving local community challenges (with a particular focus on women, youth and other underrepresented citizens), increase cooperation between citizens and municipal government, and contribute to municipal performance and result in increased civic satisfaction. This will be achieved through identifying the needs of the local community, addressing concrete citizen proposals by local authorities, training students on public participation in decision-making, identifying citizens’ priorities, providing recommendations based on them to the municipal government, training women, youth and other unrepresented citizens, and collecting citizen inputs regarding municipal capital investments through citizen investment cards.
