EkoKos Women

Project Location: Municipality of Prishtina

Title: Involvement and contribution of women of all ethnicities of rural areas in decision-making in order to solve the challenges they face.

Implementation Period: January – October 2021

Project Goal: To provide support to women farmers of all ethnicities in rural areas for participation in municipal activities, and ensure close cooperation between women and municipal institutions.

Brief Description: Through this project, EKW increased the involvement of rural women farmers from the municipality of Prishtina in the municipal decision-making processes, enhanced cooperation between women of the Albanian and Serb communities, and advocated for cooperation and easier access to local institutions through the establishment of women’s lobby/initiative as a partner of the local government.

Youth Association for Human Rights

Project Location: Municipalities: Lipjan and Shtime

Title: Transparent and accountable local governments

Implementation Period: January – October 2021

Project Goal: Democratization of local institutions and more effective mobilization of citizens to hold their elected representatives accountable.

Brief Description: Through this project YAHR has contributed to strengthening transparency and accountability of the two targeted local governments by monitoring municipal decision-making (focusing on mayors’ cabinets, transparency and access to public documents), working with community groups for empowerment and mobilization, civil society networking, partnership in drafting and implementing local policies and advocacy to improve governance and increase the quality of public services.

Human Center Mitrovica

Project Location: Municipalities: North Mitrovica and South Mitrovica

Title: Come Together and Get It Done

Implementation Period: January – July 2021

Project Goal: Promoting multi-ethnic cooperation in North and South Mitrovica through increased participation of different ethnic communities in decision making process.

Brief Description: Human Center Mitrovica through this project promoted multiethnic cooperation through mutual work of different communities in identifying needs and finding solutions for problems of common interest, and building capacities of CSOs of different entities as well as capacities of municipal representatives regarding participation of citizens in decision making process.

Project Location: Municipalities: Gracanica/Graqanice, Ranilug/Ranilluk, Novo Brdo/Novo Berde, Klokot/Kllokot, Pares/Partesh and Strpce/Shterpce

Title: ACCESS – Active Citizens Communication Empowerment for System Strengthening

Implementation Period: January – August 2021

Project Goal: Enhance citizens engagement in identifying and addressing the needs of the most vulnerable communities through the establishment of functional and innovative mechanisms of communication on relation citizens – local authorities – civil society in six target municipalities Gracanica/Graqanice, Ranilug/Ranilluk, Novo Brdo/Novo Berde, Klokot/Kllokot, Pares/Partesh and Strpce/Shterpce.

Brief Description: This project contributed towards enhancing the level of participation of local community members in decision making processes and identifying and addressing the most vulnerable community needs through establishment of functional and innovative mechanisms for communication on relation citizens – local authorities – CSO.

Handikos Kaçanik

Project Location: Municipalities: Kaçanik and Hani i Elezit

Title: Empowering people with disabilities

Implementation Period: January – October 2021

Project Goal: Contribute to improving the lives of people with disabilities in the municipalities of Kaçanik and Hani Elez.

Brief Description: Handikos Kaçanik through this project contributed to empowering people with disabilities in promoting human rights, by establishing a legal advisory office, which provided direct assistance, support and information to this vulnerable community. Additionally, Handikos Kaçanik organized an awareness raising campaign for the rights of people with disabilities and the responsibility of the local governments to protect and advance them.
